MARKETPLACE VS. SUPPLIER OPERATIONS
Direct2RetailBC gets the order discovered. Who owns what happens after?
Direct2RetailBC publicly positions itself as a B.C. marketplace connecting retailers with licensed producers. That is the order door. BC Direct Delivery is the supplier-side record for accepted orders, delivery handoff, exceptions and month-end review.
THE BOUNDARY
Discovery is not reconciliation.A marketplace can create demand. A supplier still needs a reliable record of what shipped, what arrived, and what was resolved.THE SHORT ANSWER
These products can sit beside each other.
The useful question is not “which platform wins?” It is “where does the transaction become your operational responsibility?”
KEEP THE ORDER DOOR
Use a marketplace when discovery is the bottleneck.
Direct2RetailBC says it offers curated products, retailer ordering, reordering and delivery from licensed producers. If that is the job you need, it is the relevant category.

Use BC Direct Delivery when the back office is the bottleneck.
- One supplier-owned record after the marketplace order
- Proof of what was allocated, fulfilled and received
- Exceptions that remain visible until resolved
- Month-end review that starts with approved records
BUYER FIT
Who should choose what?
You need a marketplace for product discovery, retailer access and online ordering.
You already have orders, but staff still re-enter them, chase receiving issues, age credits or rebuild the month at the deadline.
PLAIN ANSWERS
Before you add another system.
Is BC Direct Delivery a replacement for Direct2RetailBC?
No. Direct2RetailBC is a marketplace where B.C. retailers discover and order products from licensed producers. BC Direct Delivery is designed for the supplier-side operating work after an order exists: intake, allocation, delivery evidence, exceptions, credits and month-end review.
Can a supplier use both platforms?
Yes. A supplier can keep a marketplace as an order door and use BC Direct Delivery as its controlled transaction record. The founding pilot uses approved CSV or operator-assisted handoffs, so it does not assume a provider integration.
Does Direct2RetailBC publish software pricing?
On the public pages reviewed, product prices are shown after retailer login. No separate marketplace software subscription price was published there. Packaging and access can change, so confirm current commercial terms directly with the vendor.
